In addition to all of the wonderful programs your membership dues help support, The Friends of the Allen Public Library is committed to expanding literacy and finding creative ways to encourage reading for all ages.

PROGRAMS WE SPONSOR:

• ALLen Reads: Annual community project in which a book is chosen for the entire community to read and discuss. Activities include book discussion groups, an author visit, a movie, a play and other guest speakers.
• Adult Summer Reading Club: Adults ages 18+ can read books to receive a tote bag, coupons, and other themed goodies.
• BOOK SALE: Offers gently used books for all ages, audiobooks, DVDs, and CDs at bargain prices. Currently located at Blue House Too in Watters Creek Village.
• E-Audiobooks: Subscriptions like Libby are possible in part due to our support.
• Library Staff Appreciation: We love to celebrate our library staff with lunches and surprise treats to say thank you for their hard work.
• Professional Staff Development
• VolunTeen Appreciation: Allen Public Library accepts an average of 100 teenage volunteers each summer to become VolunTeens - an indispensable part of our summer programming. Friends of the Allen Library supports the VolunTeen program by sponsoring the End of Summer VolunTeen Party, an exciting evening of food, games and appreciation.
