
Friends of the Allen Public Library is a volunteer-based, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the Allen Public Library by providing the funds and planning for programs that would not otherwise be possible.

Susan has been a member of the Friends for 20+ years. She joined because she loves reading and all the great things our library has to offer patrons. Susan also loves working with the staff and community to bring programs to the library and various places around Allen. She continues to be re-elected to her role as President, and does an excellent job of coordinating our work across the Allen community.
Judith is Vice President, and she joined the Friends in 2022. She loves to read, play mah jongg, and be a Study Buddy to a kindergartener at Reed Elementary School. Judith has a husband of 48 years, two adult grand children, four adult grandchildren, and a dog.
JJ started as the Treasurer a few years ago, before Susan's current term as President. She was honored with our Outstanding Friend Award in 2024 for her many hours spent keeping our finances in order and volunteering at events. JJ enjoys reading non-fiction, especially history and science. JJ is a huge Allen Americans fan!
Patty joined the Friends in 2018 and started out as the vice president. When the previous membership chair resigned, she took over this position. Patty is an avid crocheter and reader. She loves doing data entry types of things and supporting our local library.
Naila Syed joined the Friends Board in January 2024. She loves Public Libraries and thinks they are the world’s best (hidden) treasure. She is a self-published author of a children’s science fiction book, Visit The Stars. Nalia is trained as an Electrical Engineer and works as Physics Faculty at Dallas College.
Rhonda does an excellent job of making sure our book sale is stocked and organized. She was honored with our Volunteer of the Year award in 2024 for her hours of work.
Jasmine coordinates our celebrations for library staff, which include lunches and treats to say thank you for their work to keep our library running.
Stacy manages our Facebook and Instagram accounts to share all the wonderful events that the Friends host and sponsor.
Since joining the board in June 2025, Abigail has redesigned the website and assisted with electronic payment systems at our Book Sales. As an avid reader and lifetime Allen resident, Abigail loves the opportunity to continue supporting her local library.
Tom regularly hosts guest speakers and artists in partnership with the Friends. As the Allen City Historian, Tom works to preserve our town's history and create cultural heritage programs. He was honored with the Collin County Historical Preservation Award in 2022.

Annual community project in which a book is chosen for the entire community to read and discuss. Activities include book discussion groups, an author visit, a movie, a play and other guest speakers.

The Friends sponsors a tote bag, coupons, and other themed goodies for adults 18+ who complete their Summer Reading log with five books read or 500 minutes of reading.

Offers gently used books for all ages, audiobooks, DVDs, and CDs at bargain prices. Currently located at Blue House Too in Watters Creek.

We love to celebrate our library staff with lunches and surprise treats to say thank you for their hard work.

Friends of the Allen Library supports the VolunTeen program by sponsoring the End of Summer VolunTeen Party, an exciting evening of food, games and appreciation.
